With the aim of strengthening emergency preparedness and response, New Acropolis Dominican Republic Sphere Humanitarian Standards Focal Point in the Dominican Republic and GEA Spain Sphere Focal Point in Spain successfully completed its Training of Trainers, with 25 participants completing a rigorous learning process to become new trainers.

The programme combined virtual and face-to-face sessions. Throughout this training, participants not only deepened their understanding of Sphere principles, but also experienced case studies, practices and simulations, allowing them to apply the knowledge acquired in real humanitarian contexts.

The event was promoted by Gabriel Paredes, Director of New Acropolis Dominican Republic, Sphere trainer of trainers and Master in Disaster Management, Ivan Rodes, Disaster Management Expert representing GEA Spain and Eva Rodriguez, Sphere Certified Facilitator. Their interventions enriched the training process with key perspectives and experiences in the humanitarian field.

‘This programme not only provides theoretical tools, but empowers participants to apply humanitarian principles in the field and train others. It is a crucial step in expanding the network of trainers and ensuring more effective and dignified assistance in crisis situations,’ said Leslie Guerrero, Director of Volunteering at New Acropolis Dominican Republic, and a participant in the training.
